Journal · Preparation & packing
What to bring, and what to leave.
Lodges provide beds and meals, so you carry a daypack and porters carry a duffel of up to 12 kg. Warm layers matter more than gear.

At a glance
- Sleeping bag rated to –10 °C, down jacket, waterproof shell
- Broken-in boots and a second pair of light shoes for evenings
- Water filter or purification, two one-litre bottles
- Headtorch, sunglasses, sun cream, lip balm
- Personal first aid, any prescription medication, and a copy of your insurance
